To tell the truth (see, I always tell the truth in my blog),
I've always been pretty noobie about Malaysian politics.
I probably belong to the group of "indifferent, ignorant youths"
but hopefully not anymore!
turns out politics can be pretty interesting and it does play a big role in everyone's life.
common misconception : as long as we mind our own business, who our politicians are aint gonna affect us, other than slight increases in prices and annoying authorities asking for coffee money.
guess I think that way because I'm NOT the one
- paying for the prices yet.
- driving on the road and having to pay "fines" yet
- paying all the income tax yet.
heck, i don't even earn my own income to be taxed on.
but since I'll be 19 this year, and if everything goes well,
I'll be graduating and obviously working in 3 years time and I'll be paying taxes to the government that Malaysians have currently chosen (2008).
Guess I can be in a nutshell forever huh?
Well it was safe and comfy while it lasted =\
I figured last night would be filled with mixed emotions, mainly fear and joy.
1. Fear of riot possibly caused by dissatisfied BN supporters.
2. Joy because hope was in the air as the people have finally gotten what they wanted - a clean government that listens to its people's wants.
My parents were experiencing bullet point no.1 for sure. why?
- they drove back from genting in the middle of night to make sure i was safe at home.
- mum woke me up to check the AirAsia tickets to Macau in case of emergencies -.- (seriously)
- mum asked me to run if anything happens.
I woke up, went online to check the AirAsia prices, answered yes/no questions, found out the opposition was winning, talked to boyfriend a bit and went straight back to sleep.
ignorant little me deserves a slap on the face huh? :P
For Politic beginners, here's a few websites minus the snooze factor for you to check out..
Hope and Optimism is in the air. Let's hope actions are being taken to make a change
and not to forget, be the one who makes that change ;)
